This
is a 31year old white female who had liposuction of
bilateral flanks (love handles), abdomen, as well as the
medial and lateral thighs. Excellent results at 6 weeks
post op are shown. These early view are shown to point
out not only the quick recovery, but also the early tiny
incisions on the buttock that will fade considerably
over the next year. One trade-off noted in
“significantly large” suction lipectomy cases such as
this is the small amount of excess skin in the inferior
lateral buttock region. This is unavoidable and would be
present even if this fat were removed by dieting. The
amount of residual loose skin is dependent on the volume
of fat removed, the elasticity of the skin, and the
patient’s age. This skin looseness will continue to
improve for as long as 6 months. Overall the patient is
very pleased. Large volume liposuction should not be
considered if these trade-offs are not acceptable.
